Modding serves as a gateway for talented minds to come together and collaborate and the results can be life changing. There are multiple game studios that have formed because of the success of their mod(s) which were later developed into full-blown games. Without modding, multiple intellectual properties wouldn't even exist today. These creations can help prolong the lifespan for video games, and even bring in a larger player-base, thus benefiting both parties. Not only does modding benefit the developers, but it opens up an entire library of creations for players.
